Scores of adorable slow lorises have been rescued from appalling conditions and released back into the wild. The critically endangered primates were found terrified and starving, stuffed into tiny crates in Indonesia. One of the 79 creatures even had a BB gun pellet lodged in his face. They were being smuggled into China to be sold as pets but were intercepted by police and transferred to the International Animal Rescue (IAR) Primate Rehabilitation Centre. “There were about three in each box and they were very traumatised,” said Lis Key, PR and communications manager for IAR.
